WHAT IT IS
Eye Resting is the restorative hobby of closing your eyes for a few seconds, minutes, or accidentally an entire afternoon while insisting you are not asleep.
It is not napping. Napping has commitment. Eye Resting is lighter, more deniable, and easier to explain when someone walks into the room.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Eyes
- A chair, couch, bed, or suspiciously supportive wall
- Something you were supposed to be reading
- The phrase: “I’m just resting my eyes”
PROS
- Looks almost medical
- Requires no equipment beyond eyelids
- Can be practiced during movies, meetings, books, and family gatherings
- Provides plausible deniability for full unconsciousness
CONS
- May become napping without consent
- People may ask if you’re okay
- You will miss important plot points, instructions, or social cues
- Neck angle becomes advanced-level hazard

For best results, hold a book open on your chest so the activity appears intellectual.
